In protest to his parents forced move to the country Brian ‘Big Mac’ McMahon decided to take up the loudest instrument he could without the need for an electrical supply to the disused garage adjacent to his house.
Hours were spent honing his skills with an IPod playing at a deafening level, playing along to whatever music he could get his hands on from various sources. This resulted in a rich tapestry of musical influences such as Garth Brooks, Van Morrison, The Police, Stevie Wonder and later the Dave Matthews band. After cutting his teeth in a Brass Band, Macco realised that girls didn’t care much for band recitals and so he began his foray into live music in pubs.
As one of the founder members of Live as Kings and subsequently Blue Steel, Big Mac has over 10 years’ experience in the cover band game.
When he’s not hitting drums he can be seen riding his motorcycle and watching countless hours of football (but not at the same time). His favourite drink is Murphy’s.. feel free to buy him one the next time you see him
